Al Nisa Children’s home has the capacity to house 48 children, it is currently home to 27 children. It is located at a quiet residential area in Karen, Nairobi sitting on a ¾ of an acre land made of the children’s accommodation, library, play area, and a green house. Majority of the girls have lost their parent(s) through death, have been abandoned, abused and/or neglected. The Al-Nisa Children Home operates on the belief that each child should have the opportunity to live a meaningful life in a loving, caring environment. The children ages ranging from four to sixteen years attend the nearby Karen C primary school. They are transported to and from school by a hired private school transport company. To ensure a well-rounded education, the children don’t only focus on secular education but Islamic studies at the home. We are proud that all our children are faring well with their school-work with majority in the top five percentiles of their class. The children home is managed by a dedicated, vibrant team. A managing committee member include a chairlady, vice chairlady, secretary, treasurer, fundraising committee and other team members like Administrator, volunteers, Matrons, Care takers, Agronomist and a teacher. The home currently has a greenhouse that provides the children with vegetables to cut on cost of buying. Some of the produce like tomatoes, capsicums, spinach and potatoes are also sold to generate some income for the home.
